Amrit Singh of 6BabeBeauty - Facial Massage to Release Eye Strain

Amrit Singh of 6BabeBeauty - Facial Massage to Release Eye Strain

By: Daisy Hemmen

Boody was lucky enough to feature Amrit Singh of 6BabeBeauty in our Boody x Sessions IGTV series. Amrit provided the Boody community with a tutorial on how to use facial massage to release eye strain - an issue that has greatly increased for people since jobs and schools have become remote, and screen time is at an all-time high. Boody interviewed Amrit to get a deeper understanding of her personal and professional background, and what her own self-care routine looks like (hint: a lot of facial massage!).

Amrit is from Winnipeg, MB, Canada, but her family is from Punjab, India. She credits the hard work and ambition of her immigrant parents for her work ethic and a more natural approach to healthcare. Amrit’s parents, who she describes as hardworking and honest, were extremely supportive when she transitioned away from her business-oriented job to her acupuncture career.

As with many practitioners, Amrit was led to her acupuncture career after experiencing how it effectively healed her own physical ailments. A bad back injury left Amrit with years of chronic pain - some of which improved with time, but it wasn’t until she started seeing an acupuncturist that Amrit received the physical and emotional relief she sought.

Amrit came on Boody x Sessions IGTV to teach our audience about facial massage because it’s a practice everyone can benefit from. She explains that the face has the same physical tissues that other parts of the body has - muscles, fascia, skin, fat, bone, and lymph nodes, too! Just as exercise, massage, and stretching is good for the body, it also is fabulous for the face.

As a wellness maven, the Boody team was keen on getting the scoop on what Amrit’s daily self-care practice looks like. Amrit started off by sharing how she is intentional about implementing moments of self-care all throughout her day to maintain her energy and Qi (Chinese traditional medicine term for life force). For Singh, this looks like starting the day with an antioxidant/collagen beverage and a cooked breakfast (no raw!). Throughout the day, Amrit drinks ample room-temperature water to keep herself hydrated. Towards the evening is when Amrit’s schedule allows more time for her self-care, and she chooses from her arsenal of self care practices - this could include some form of face massage (sometimes with a face tool, like Gua Sha), cosmetic acupuncture, a soothing bath, or a session under her LED light if she needs a boost.

Amrit emphasizes how in order to be of service to others, one must prioritize self-care. As an acupuncturist, Singh knows that in order for her to be her best for her patients, she has to feel her best, and to feel her best, she needs to take care of herself! This importance of giving the same love and attention you give to others, to yourself, is exactly why Boody invited Amrit to teach us the self-care practice of facial massage for relieving eye tension. If you haven’t already, check out the IGTV here - let us know how you feel afterwards!
