Let’s get to know a bit more about Vera and her outlook on health, wellness, and exercise!
Tell us a bit about your background and how you got to where you are today.
I graduated from USC with an Electrical Engineering degree and the training from my degree helps me stay disciplined and organized when it comes to finishing a project or accomplishing goals. I am forever grateful for the training and experience as an EE student, but the constant stress and anxiety I had wasn’t the way I wanted to enjoy my life, so I decided to change my direction and become a model, actress, and yoga teacher.
I started doing yoga consistently around 8 years ago because I couldn’t find anything else to slow down my mind and ease my anxiety. Yoga has changed me for my best interest ever since. This is why I started my own online yoga business last year to spread more awareness on the benefits of yoga.
If you could sum up your outlook/perspective on healthy living/exercise, what would it be?
Yoga sums up my outlook on health living/exercise. As an introvert living in a fast-paced world, I need a lot of alone time to process and digest my thoughts. Yoga helps me embrace my needs and allow me to build a daily mind+body practice, so I can reset and recharge myself before going back out into the world.
What are 3 non-negotiables for your health and wellness daily routine?
My water, skincare routine, and yoga. Actually, potato chips should be one of them, too. :)
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to become more healthy and active but doesn’t know where to start?
Start small and stay consistent. Doing anything to move your body for 10 minutes is better than not doing anything. Movements change our mood and energy!
What is one go-to practice you have to take care of yourself?
Movement! I practice yoga everyday to stay grounded and happy. My mat is my sacred place where I connect with myself without any interruptions.
